Most destination DJs fly in and sub-rent whatever the local vendor has free that weekend. It is why production quality outside a company’s home market is so inconsistent — the DJ is the same, but the speakers, the fixtures and the wall are whatever turned up.
We took a different approach. We own a sound, lighting and LED package that stays in New York, housed at a partner facility, and it is similar in spec to what we run in Los Angeles. When we quote a New York wedding, we already know what is going in the room.
The crew is New York-based technicians we work with regularly. That is deliberate. Flying four people across the country is not a benefit to you; people who know the freight elevator, the union rules and the load-in window at your venue are. Consistent equipment, local hands.
