Uplighting is the fastest way to change how a room feels — washing the walls and architecture in color so the space reads warmer, richer, and more finished in person and in photos. Our uplights are wireless and battery-powered, so there are no cables across the floor. We plan the number and placement of fixtures around your room and set the color to your palette, with an inventory of roughly 100 wireless uplights to cover larger venues. It also pairs naturally with pin spotting, dance-floor lighting, and LED walls as part of one production.

There is no single number, and anyone quoting one without seeing the room is guessing. What actually drives it is the length of wall you want covered and how even you want the wash to look — uplights are spaced along a perimeter, so a long rectangular ballroom needs more than a square room with the same guest count.
In practice, a small private party or a home event often reads well with a modest count picking out key walls and features rather than wrapping the whole room. A mid-size ballroom typically wants the full perimeter plus the architectural details worth catching — columns, alcoves, a fireplace, a head-table wall. Large venues, wide tents and estate exteriors scale from there, which is why we hold roughly 100 wireless uplights: it means a large perimeter and the feature lighting can come from one inventory on one date.
Spacing matters as much as count. Fixtures placed too far apart leave visible dark gaps between pools of colour; too close together and you have spent money on a difference nobody sees. Send a photo or floor plan of the room and we will tell you what it actually needs.
Ballrooms and hotel event space. Usually the most straightforward: a defined perimeter, solid walls that take colour well, and architectural features worth lighting. The main variables are wall finish — dark or heavily textured walls absorb far more light than pale ones — and whether the venue restricts what can be placed against the walls.
Tents. Fabric behaves differently from a wall. It picks up colour beautifully and glows from within, which can look better than a hard wall, but the light also travels through, so the outside of the tent reads as part of the design whether you planned it or not. Tent poles and legs are natural fixture positions.
Estates and private homes. Often the most interesting, because the “walls” are hedges, stonework, a pool surround or the facade of the house itself. There is rarely a clean perimeter to work with, so placement is driven by what is worth lighting rather than by geometry, and power access becomes a real planning factor. Indoors, uplighting is working against controlled conditions — you decide the ambient level, and the colour holds exactly as set. The main consideration is how much other light is in the room, because uplighting fights bright overhead house lights and only really arrives once those come down for the evening.
Outdoors there is no ceiling and no walls to bounce off, so light that misses a surface simply disappears into the dark. That is not a problem, it is just a different design: outdoor uplighting works by picking out specific objects — trees, a facade, hedging, a bar back — rather than washing a room. Weather protection, ground stability and power or battery runtime for a long evening all become planning factors, and colour choices that look subtle indoors often need to be more decisive outside.
Uplighting and dance-floor lighting do different jobs and most finished rooms use both. Uplighting sets the colour and mood of the space and is largely static — it is what makes the room look designed during cocktails and dinner. Dance-floor lighting is movement: beams, colour changes and effects that arrive when the music does.
