What is an LED video wall?
An LED video wall is a large display built from modular panels of LEDs that tile together into one seamless, high-brightness screen. Because it's modular, it can be sized and shaped to a stage, booth, or architecture, and it stays bright and readable even in rooms with a lot of ambient light — which is why it has largely replaced projection for events and permanent venues.
2.9mm vs. 2.6mm pixel pitch
Pixel pitch is the distance between LED centers in millimeters — smaller pitch means higher resolution and closer comfortable viewing. 2.6mm is slightly tighter than 2.9mm, so it holds detail a little closer and is a bit friendlier to cameras; 2.9mm is a very common, cost-effective indoor choice at typical event distances. For most weddings and corporate stages the difference is modest; for close-up viewing or heavy on-camera use, tighter can be worth it.

Indoor and outdoor brightness
Brightness is measured in nits. Indoor panels typically run in the hundreds to low-thousands of nits — plenty for controlled event lighting. Outdoor and high-ambient environments need far higher brightness (often several thousand nits) plus weather rating for sunlight readability. The right target depends on ambient light and whether the wall competes with daylight — it's not one universal number.

Screen sizing and aspect ratio
LED walls are built from fixed-size panels (commonly around 500×500mm), so screen size is a count of panels — width and height are chosen in panel increments. A 16:9 ratio suits standard video; custom and ultra-wide shapes are possible because the wall is modular. We size the wall to the room, the sightlines, and the content aspect so it fills the space without awkward cropping.
Image processors and content sources
A video processor (or scaler/switcher) drives the wall — it scales and maps your content to the exact panel resolution and switches between sources. Sources can include media servers, laptops, playback devices, switchers, and live cameras. Planning the processor and sources up front is what keeps scheduled content, presentations, and live feeds looking clean.
Power, data, structure, and ventilation
LED panels need adequate power (draw scales with size and brightness) and a data path from the processor, plus structure — ground-support or rigging sized to the wall's weight. Panels also generate heat, so ventilation and service clearance matter. Where a project needs licensed electrical, structural, or rigging work, we coordinate with qualified licensed partners and trades rather than performing regulated work outside our scope.
Front vs. rear service
Front-serviceable panels are maintained from the front — useful when the wall sits against a wall or has no rear access. Rear-serviceable designs need clearance behind the wall. For permanent installations especially, service access is planned in the design so future maintenance is simple.
Cameras and moiré
When an LED wall is filmed, cameras can pick up moiré patterns or scan lines. This is reduced with a tighter pixel pitch, appropriate camera shutter/frame-rate settings, sufficient distance between camera and wall, and processor configuration. If your event is being filmed or livestreamed, plan for it in advance.
Calibration and maintenance
Calibration evens out color and brightness across every panel so the wall reads as one uniform screen. Ongoing maintenance — module and pixel checks, cleaning, recalibration, and spare-part coordination — keeps it looking its best over time. For venues, this is covered by an ongoing support program.
What affects LED wall pricing
Pricing is driven by pixel pitch, total screen size, indoor vs. outdoor, rental vs. permanent installation, processing and content complexity, rigging or structural needs, labor and crew, and — for events — duration. Because these vary so much, a real number comes from a consultation or site survey, not a price list.

Outdoors usually calls for a weather-rated, higher-brightness panel (often a different product) for sunlight readability and ingress protection — so "2.9mm outdoors" depends on the specific panel's brightness and rating, not the pitch alone.
What is the best viewing distance for a 2.9mm LED wall?
As a rough rule of thumb, the comfortable minimum viewing distance in meters is on the order of the pixel pitch in millimeters — so ~3 meters or more for a 2.9mm wall. This is approximate: content type, whether cameras are used, and eyesight all shift it. We confirm it against your actual room.
LED wall or projector — which is better?
LED wins in rooms with ambient light (brightness and contrast hold up) and for reliability and modular sizing. Projection can be cost-effective for very large images in controlled darkness with adequate throw distance. The right choice depends on ambient light, image size, and budget.
How much does an LED wall cost?
