Almost nobody wants to dance for the full length of their first dance song. Four minutes is a long time in front of a room, and the last minute of most records is a repeated chorus or a fade that gives you nothing to finish on.
The usual answer is around ninety seconds to two minutes, ending on a resolved note so the room knows to applaud. That is what this edit does — the same song, the length you want, with a beginning and an ending that were designed rather than trimmed.

Shortening the song
Most couples land between 1:30 and 2:00. We take out a verse or a chorus repeat and rebuild the join so it plays as one continuous piece.
A proper ending
Fade-outs are the enemy of a first dance — nobody knows when to stop or clap. We build an ending that lands on a beat.
Skipping the intro
If the song opens with a long instrumental, we can start you on the vocal so the dance begins the moment you are in position.
Choreographed dances
If you have been taught a routine, send the timings. We will cut to your choreography rather than making you re-learn it to a new edit.

Then get us the audio, whichever way is easier: paste a link in the form, or email your files to djnextlevelent@gmail.com with your project number in the subject line. Anything large — an uncompressed file, or a long recording — should go by link rather than email, since most mail providers reject big attachments.
We come back with a quote and a payment link. Usually 3–5 business days. Send it well before the wedding week if you can. Nothing is charged until you approve the quote.

First Dance Song Edit questions
How long should a first dance be?
Most couples end up between 90 seconds and two minutes. Under a minute can feel abrupt if there is a formal introduction beforehand; much past two and a room that is standing and watching starts to shift. If the floor opens to everyone partway through, you can run longer — the pressure comes off once other people are dancing.
Can you cut it to my choreography?
Yes, and this is the case where exact timings matter most. Send the counts or the timestamps your instructor gave you and we will build the edit around the routine, rather than handing you an edit you then have to adapt to.
Can you fix the ending?
That is one of the most common requests. A record that fades leaves a couple standing there waiting for it to be over. We build a real ending so the dance finishes on a clear beat and the applause starts on cue.
What if we want two songs?
That is a transition or a mashup rather than an edit — starting slow and dropping into something upbeat is one of the most requested wedding moments. See our two-song transition and custom mashup services.
How do I get my songs to you?
Two ways, and you can use either. Paste a link in the form — Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer or OneDrive all work — or submit the form first and email your files to djnextlevelent@gmail.com with your project number in the subject line. Large files, and anything uncompressed like a WAV, should go by link rather than email, since most inboxes reject attachments over about 25MB.
How far in advance should we send it?
As early as you can, and certainly not in the final week. Practising to the actual edit is the whole point — if you rehearse to the original and hear the edit for the first time at the reception, the timing will feel wrong even if the edit is good.
What if it is not quite right?
Tell us what to change and we will change it. The most useful feedback is timestamped — “at 1:14 let the chorus run another eight seconds” is immediately actionable in a way that “the middle feels off” is not. Revisions are part of the process; a project that needs a fundamental change of direction is quoted separately.
